Nigerian Communications Commission · Device Management System

Every phone in Nigeria now has to be Type Approved and registered. We do both.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (the Commission) keeps a national register of phones called the Device Management System. A phone that is not on it will be cut off from the network. If you hold one phone, call 315 — the Commission registers it free. If you sell, import or make phones, the duty to register them is yours, and only a licensed company can do it. That is what we do.

Two services

Type Approval

For manufacturers and importers. Before a model of phone, laptop or network equipment can be sold in Nigeria, the Commission must certify it. We prepare and file the application and track it to the certificate. 24 Type Approvals on the Commission's register are in our name, including 18 of HP Inc.'s 19.

IMEI registration

For dealers, importers and manufacturers. Every phone sold in Nigeria must have its IMEI numbers on the Commission's Device Management System, and the Commission says that duty falls on the businesses in the supply chain. We register your stock or your shipment under our Sales and Installation licence and send you a tracking number.

Free model check

Not sure if a model is Type Approved?

Dial *#06#, read the IMEI number, and check it here — or on the Commission's own checker. The check is free. Businesses pay only when a model has passed and they ask us to register.
